In the second Episode of Board Talk Season 1, powered by JCI Sandton, we are getting to know Precious Maputle. She is the 2025 JCI Sandton Executive Vice President and an awesome human being. Get to know the light side of this amazing professional and her 2025 vision for the organisation:

Sibusiso Nkosi: If you could have dinner with one leader in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Precious Maputle: It would be the late Dr. Myles Munroe. His ability to teach leadership from a biblical perspective, particularly to Fortune 500 companies, had a profound impact on the business world. Dr. Munroe’s passion for transforming followers into leaders and helping people maximize their individual potential is something that deeply resonates with me. His vision extended beyond personal success, as he worked tirelessly to change the mindset of individuals in developing nations through the International Third World Leaders Association (ITWLA). Dr. Munroe once wrote, “The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without a purpose.”
I believe leading with purpose is one of the most significant ways we can create lasting, meaningful impact in the world. When leaders act with a clear sense of purpose, they inspire others to do the same, fostering a culture of growth, innovation, and service. Purpose-driven leadership gives direction not only to organizations but to entire communities, encouraging people to move beyond personal gain and work toward a greater collective good. I would love to sit down with Dr. Munroe to explore how we can all lead with purpose, grow as individuals, and contribute to meaningful change in our communities and beyond.
Sibusiso Nkosi: If you were a “leadership superhero”, what powers would you have and why?
Precious Maputle: The ability to communicate with people at the level of their understanding. This superpower would allow me to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that my message is not just heard, but truly understood. Understanding is key because it enables people to fully grasp the vision, their role in achieving it, and how their contributions matter. When leaders communicate at this level, it builds trust, reduces confusion and creates a shared sense of purpose. Ultimately, the ability to connect and ensure understanding empowers others to act with clarity and motivation, driving meaningful collaboration, progress and change.
Sibusiso Nkosi: Which board member would you like to trade places with, and why (light hearted)?
Precious Maputle: Director Valentino Chigwedere – I’d trade places with him to speak with the same depth and global outlook he brings to discussions on entrepreneurship, business, mining, and renewable energy. His ability to connect such diverse topics with ease is impressive, and I’d love to gain that level of insight and fluency. His LinkedIn profile also suggests that he has access to some of the most exclusive leaders.
Sibusiso Nkosi: Out of the entire board, who is the best dresser and why?
Precious Maputle: SG (Secretary General) Thelma Madzikanda. She would probably be surprised if I didn’t mention her. She says I’m most likely to wear most items in her wardrobe and vice versa. We have a similar sense of elegant style. She’s stylish and elegant – and I resonate with her style.
Sibusiso Nkosi: If you could live in another place for a year outside South Africa, where would it be and why?
Precious Maputle: Nanjing, China. To learn Mandarin faster.
Sibusiso Nkosi: Lastly, what are you looking to achieve in your tenure as a 2025 JCI Sandton Board member?
Precious Maputle: As Executive Vice President of JCI Sandton, my focus will be on realising the theme “Leading2Serve,” overseeing various portfolios to ensure they align with our values of service and leadership. I aim to support portfolio leaders in creating impactful initiatives that empower members and benefit the community. By fostering a servant-leadership approach, I hope to drive positive growth and sustainable change.
